City Spends More to Repair Vehicles Than They Cost

Los Angeles – Controller Ron Galperin released an audit of Los Angeles’s procedures for disposing of surplus and obsolete equipment and vehicles. The audit found that insufficient funding to replace outdated equipment, combined with a decentralized, haphazard approach to the salvage process has led L.A. to spend far more maintaining some vehicles than it would cost to replace them.
