Galperin Calls for City to Invest More Strategically in Water Savings

Los Angeles – Controller Ron Galperin called upon the City and its Department of Water and Power (DWP) to refocus residential and commercial water conservation incentives and programs in order to achieve more sustained and cost­ effective water savings. An audit performed by Galperin’s office found that the DWP’s turf replacement program yielded the lowest return on investment by a wide margin, in terms of gallons of water saved per dollar spent, when compared with other conservation programs
